We’ve all been told the same fairy tale: the artist, alone in a studio, fueled by nothing but caffeine and a dream, miraculously producing a masterpiece. But as I looked at my own shelf of unfinished drafts, I realized that sometimes, the only thing more exhausting than dating in your thirties is trying to build a creative empire without a support system.
Enter Black Volume.
In 2025, I watched this collective turn the “starving artist” trope on its head. And it got me thinking… maybe the most fabulous accessory a creator can have isn’t a pair of Manolos, but a community that actually has your back.
